Poland’s online auction website Allegro.pl climbs to third in the list of the most popular Internet sites.

A report by PBI/Gemius shows that Google remains the most popular web site in Poland with 15.8 million unique users in December. It is followed by Onet.pl, the most popular news web site, which had 12.3 million users at the end of 2009.

Allegro.pl, the biggest online auction website has advanced from the fifth to the third position in the ranking with 10.9 million users, replacing Nasza-klasa.pl, Polish social networking service, the equivalent of the British FriendsReunited or American Classmates, which fell by 50,000 users.
The top twenty most popular websites in December included news websites: Wirtualna Polska (10.8 million users) and Gazeta.pl (10.5 million users) as well as financial news service Money.pl.

Polish Internet users spent most time at Nasza-klasa.pl – on average eight hours in December, and Google – seven hours. Facebook, which is still not as popular in Poland as in other countries – with only 3.1 million users in December – is expected to jump in the next months rankings. Polish Internet users spent on average six hours on that social networking website.
