Export in the automotive industry in 2009
Posted April 19th, 2010 in Business news by Ela Pawełek-LuberaAccording to Automotive Suppliers, the automotive sector in Poland started to grow in the last months of 2009 – in October and November by several percent and in December the value of exports in the sector was higher by 1/3. In December 2009, an export from the Polish automotive industry amounted to over EUR 1.32 billion and was higher by 32% y-o-y. It should be emphasised that increase is so considerable because the data is compared to data for December 2008 when the sector was undergoing a crisis. As in previous months, an export was to a much extent determined by the situation on EU markets, which absorbed 88.07% of the total Polish automotive export. Export on non-EU markets was very dynamic (135.27% growth).
December last year was the second consecutive month on the rise in all countries of the top ten Polish products receivers. Invariably, the largest market for the Polish export remains Germany, which absorbed 25% of the total export. Italy (19.84%) stays in second place, followed by, France (8.24%). In December, the decisive products were cargo-passenger cars, parts and accessories, trucks and high-pressure engines. In the whole of 2009 Polish export in the automotive industry reached nearly EUR 15.70 billion i.e. 14.88% more than in the previous year. That period saw export fall by EUR 2.73 billion when compared with 2008. Germany remains the biggest receiver of the exported goods (30.61% of the total exported goods). The leader is followed by Italy (18.6%) and France (7.34%). AutomotiveSuppliers.pl expects the first months of 2010 to experience the continuing positive export trend in automotive industry in Poland, which is even estimated to increase by 15-20% what is connected with the high production levels of Auto Poland – the biggest car maker in Poland, production rises in General Motors Manufacturing Poland in Gliwice, maintenance of component demand for small cars and the opening of a new production line for Twin-Air engine in the factory of Fiat Powertrain Technologies Poland in Bielsko-Biała.
