Higher GDP growth forecast Polish

Posted June 29th, 2010 in Business news by Ela Pawełek-Lubera

Analysts from the Centre for Social and Economic (CASE) expect the Polish GDP in the whole 2010 to by 3.5% higher than a year ago. Forecasts made three month ago assumed the growth to stay at the level of 3.2%.

CASE economists expect private consumption growth due to slightly higher wage growth and declining unemployment. It is expected to reach 3.1%. In the previous report, the expected growth in consumer demand was by 2.3%. CASE analysts predict that in the second quarter, we can expect a weakened GDP growth due to the floods, which inundated large areas of Poland and the liquidation of post –flood damages, although the next year is forecast to reach a 4.0% growth rate.

CASE experts also foresee an increase in exports by 19.2% this year and by 11.0% in 2011 and an increase in imports, by respectively 20.4% and 12.5%.
