International Investment-Economic Forum LUB-INVEST 2010
Posted July 15th, 2010 in Business news by Ela Pawełek-LuberaThe Forum took place on June 23-25 in Lublin. The event was organised in the framework of the programme “The Lublin Metropolitan Area – Friendly to Investors”, co-financed from EU funds and run by the City of Lublin and four adjacent poviats.
The first day of the forum was devoted to seminars and presentations devoted to the potential of economic co-operation development between entrepreneurs from Lublin and Eastern markets of China and Ukraine. The next stage of the Forum included 170 business meetings and visits to Lublin-based companies.
This year’s Forum attracted guests from the People’s Republic of China, Ukraine and India.
- From the perspective of an investor, the Lublin sub-region is very attractive mainly due to the social and economic potential. Interesting investment offers and competitive labour costs constitute a considerable advantage. Through promotional projects and such projects as the Forum, we have the opportunity to learn about the strengths and opportunities in the region and consider the potential location for our business – says Paul Szymanczak from Scapa Scandia, which focuses on trade co-operation between China and Europe, but also develops investment projects. – We want to develop new business opportunities through the synergy effect and create bridges between European traders and the vigorously growing Chinese market.
According to Mirosława Galan, Chairman of the Multi Frigo Management Board, establishing business contacts between Polish and foreign companies is very helpful. Ms Galan considers the practical part of the Forum, i.e. business meetings, which in the near term could prove fruitful, as the most positive element of the event.
- We have already visited several cities in Poland and had discussions with professional advisers who recommended Lublin as a place that can best respond to our business needs. Today we are here to verify the information – said Narendra Rathi from Manav Trade Links (India), a company which produces and distributes tools. The company wants to start production in Poland and enter in co-operation with Poland-based subcontractors.
