Posted April 12th, 2010 in Business news by Ela Pawełek-LuberaEconomists are not expecting markets to react negatively to the death of head of Poland’s national bank, Slawomir Skrzypek in the plane crash which also took the life President Kaczynski and 95 others in Russia, Saturday.
“We do not anticipate any negative impact on the market,” Simon Quijano-Evans, Head of Europe, the Middle East and Africa division at Credit Agricole Cheuvreux told Rzeczpospolita.
“The constitutional framework in Poland is very solid and clearly defines the steps to be taken in this situation. The economic system will operate normally, with a clearly defined role for the central bank,” he said.
In the weeks before he died, Slawomir Skrzypek, was in conflict with the government over the use of the national bank of Poland’s profits. He was also involved in a row with the government over whether it was appropriate to give up the IMF Credit Line.
Deputy Chief of the National Bank of Poland, Piotr Wiesiolek, has taken over the duties of the late Slawomir Skrzypek.
