Planned Warsaw Airport Shut down for Repairs Brings Big Protests
Posted January 21st, 2010 in Business news by Ela Pawełek-LuberaThe renovation of the Warsaw’s airport of Okęcie slated for 3 consecutive weekends of September 2010 is evoking indignation from tour operators, Puls Biznesu writes citing the industry representatives.
Listed firm Rainbow Tours will issue an official protest, or even sue the airport, as the renovation works during high season would translate into the tour operator’s additional costs of PLN 10 mln, Rainbow Tours CEO Grzegorz Baszczyński told the daily.
The protest is expected to be signed by 20 other tour operators.
Air France will likely also be financially affected by the works; it sent a letter to Polish PM Donald Tusk, calling the situation unprecedented in any of the European capitals, the daily writes.
