Poland to Universalize Pension System
Posted February 5th, 2010 in Business news by Ela Pawełek-LuberaPoland will make pension system more universal, covering with it also those groups that currently have special systems, PM Donald Tusk said at a conference presenting fiscal consolidation plans.
Poland will also postpone retirement age in order to boost pensions, Tusk added.
“Our philosophy is that biggest possible number of Poles had jobs. The more Poles work, the burden borne by each Pole . . . will be justly spread and as low as possible.” he said.
According to the fiscal consolidation plan, Poland plans to cover members of uniformed services that will start service in 2012 and beyond with the universal pension system.
Significant financial effects of the reform are expected beyond 2012.
