Poles assess 2009

Poles assess 2009 to be worse than 2008 but they are optimistic about the future.

According to the Public Opinion Research Centre’s (CBOS) opinion poll concerning the assessment of 2009 and projections for 2010, Poles assess last year well concerning the situation in workplaces (53%), personal life (50%) and family situation (48%). Worse assessments were made in regard to the situation in the world (38% believe it is bad) and events in the country – the largest group (39%) believes that the past year was neither good nor bad for Poland. Overall, the 2009 is seen as slightly worse than 2008.

As for predictions, some areas were seen in optimistic light by more people than last year. Compared to last year, forecasts have not changed for personal affairs, family life and the situation in workplaces, however, compared with predictions for 2009 prognoses for 2010 more frequently show hopes for improvement in the situation in Poland and in the world.
