Polish poster promotes Europe day 2010

Maria Mileńko, student of the Academy of Fine Arts in Poznań won the poster competition to promote Europe Day 2010.

Competitors took part in the posters competition to design an official poster for the Europe Day 2010. All EU inhabitants born after 1985 were entitled to take part in the competition. Out of 1700 competition entries, an independent jury selected 10 finalists whose works were then put to a vote via Internet.

The poster designed by Polish student, Maria Mileńko – „a cocktail embodying the diversity of Europe” received a record number of votes – 416 974, and won the competition. The Pole was followed by Diana Jung from Portugal (149 477 votes) and Martin Geier from Germany (82 128 votes). In accordance with the rules of the contest, the work of Maria Mileńko became an official Europe Day poster, which will be celebrated on May 9th, 2010. The poster will be translated into 23 official EU languages and distributed in all 27 European Union countries. The winner will also receive EUR 2,000. (www.designeurope2010.eu)
