During the weekend a bigger problem with my computer occured. While running Check Disk (autocorrection enabled) something mysterious happened that C: and E: drive letters. They just swapped and it may be problem for WinXP to run having my photos as a start directory :) “Missing NTLDR file” message was the only feedback I got from my beloved OS :/

First try was to run a recovery console of WinXP. Limited functionality is not enough for describing its possibilities. It doesn’t provide even a fraction of what is available from normal console. Please remember, DiskPart is not a Diskpart, a case of the letter really matters in this case.

What’s the simplest solution for that than? Take Ubuntu installation, run it in a standalone mode, run GPart, do all the stuff you want and run Win again. That’s the simplest solution for this wilful winxp. The real reason for the problem was a boot sector that pointed wrong virtual partition, of course.
