GUS revises 2006 GDP growth upwards

Poland ‘s economy grew 6.1% in 2006, the stats office GUS said in a revision of prior figures. A preliminary estimate in January had put 2006 growth at 5.8%.

The revised figures tilted slightly more towards consumption than investments.

Investment spending grew by 16.5%, down fractionally from an initial estimate of 16.7%.

Growth in domestic demand was measured at 6.6%, up from an early reading of 5.8%.

Total consumption grew at 4.8% (versus 4.4%), including 5.2% growth for private consumption, flat from the initial reading.
