New R&D centre in Wrocław

The Norwegian firm Opera Software, officially opened its R&D centre in Wrocław, in June. Opera the producer of internet search engines has already employed 26 people.

– We decided on Wrocław because its one of the best promoted cities in this part of Europe. A strong academic centre, in which there study thousands of particularly intelligent and creative people – stated Mr. Jon S. von Tetzner, managing director of Opera Software.

The investment brings to Wrocław very valuable know how, also creating work places for highly qualified specialists. The directors of this country’s branch are ready to employ a large number of workers. – We’re looking for as many professionals as we can find – says Ms. Paulina Kolondra from Opera Software. The company needs mainly programmers and IT professionals that speak English.

The employees will be working on improving the Opera internet viewers, but also among their responsibilities will be creating programming for cell phones and the Nintendo Wii consoles.

Opera was established in 1994 and currently employs 400 people in nine R&D centres. In Europe, the firm also operates in Oslo and in Sweden’s Linkopung.
